What to expect as a new patient

Individualized Care

Every patient is unique and needs to be looked at on an individual basis.  Each patient will be given a movement screen (SFMA) to receive a base level idea of how well or dysfunctional they are moving.  The SFMA has been performed and repeated nearly a million times worldwide and is what gives us a large database to compare how each patient moves.  Depending on what we visualize during the session we will then typically move towards correcting these faults.  We address these faults using a variety of methods.  Some of these hands on techniques are ART, Graston, FAKTR, Keniesotape and cupping which are used to break up scar tissue, promote blood flow and increase mobility.  These hands on techniques are paired with individualized exercises to enhance the patient's unique set of goals. These outcomes often consist of pain reduction, increased range of motion, or better performance of daily tasks.

A patient's first appointment takes 45 minutes. Most follow up appointments usually take 15-20 minutes of one on one time with Dr. Carson.  Positive outcomes are expected after only one treatment and a course of treatment is typically 3-6 total visits

Although Dr Carson is a chiropractor by profession, he treats as many patients with extremity diagnosis. On a daily basis more patients come into his office with extremity complaints than traditional spinal complaints although they are commonly associated with chiropractic care.

Working towards a pain free lifestyle

The foundation of reaching your goal is to move CORRECTLY. Many times symptoms are a result of compensation.  A traditional diagnosis only describes a SYMPTOM but not what the actual cause of injury is.  This is why it is far too common for patients to have symptoms, get treatment, rest and return only to have the problem come back over and over again.  It is because the SOURCE of the diagnosis was never corrected!

To obtain these goals requires work on both the physician (me) and the patient (you).  I will educate every patient about their condition.  We will discuss the anatomy that is affected.  We will talk about how it happend, what causes it to happen in daily activities and how to avoid mistakes.  We will talk about how we will fix the immediate symptom (pain, immobility etc) and how we will prevent it from returning. (Corrective exercise etc).  We will then communicate about long term goals and about how to create an environment to accomplish those goals.
